What is Formula Student?

The Formula Student competition - an international design competition for student teams - has been held in Germany since 2006. Formula Student Germany e.V. was founded along the lines of Formula SAE. Since then, the number of Formula Student teams in Germany as well as in Europe and worldwide has been steadily increasing.

More than 10 years ago, we decided to develop our own series for the Formula Student teams. The requirements for the rod ends and spherical plain bearings could not be met by the standard mechanical engineering bearings. The motorsport bearings were oversized and too expensive. The Formula Student series is just right - performance and price are right.

From the beginning of Formula Student and the following years, we have some regular teams that we supply with our rod ends and spherical plain bearings. Of course, we did not want to deprive other teams of our products. Unfortunately, our budget is not enough for all the teams, so we have set up a Formula Student price list with special student prices. We only supply directly to the teams.

The technical basics described in the Knowledgebase under Rod ends and Spherical plain bearings also apply to the Formula Student series. Only the materials and the bearing clearance differ from the standard.
